STEPS IN ROBATE AND ESTATE ADMINISTRATION

  • Taking instructions from executors/administrators.

  • Collecting particulars of decedent including address, occupation, PPS number, marital status, name of spouse, former spouses, if any, names of children, if any.

  • Where decedent has died intestate, compiling of list of the next-of-kin of the decedent.

  • Establishing details of decedent's nationality, citizenship, domicile, habitual residence.

  • Obtaining the names and addresses of all beneficiaries and next-of-kin.

  • Compiling a list of the decedent's assets including property, bank accounts, credit union accounts, post office accounts, shares held, bonds, jewellery, boats, cars etc. Producing evidence of title to these assets. Ensuring prudent and efficient handling of estate assets, including property, investments, and financial accounts, in accordance with the will and relevant laws.

  • Obtaining details of debts of the deceased such as outstanding loans, credit and debit card bills.

  • Eliciting information on previous bequests/inheritances received by the beneficiaries.

  • Preparation of Statement of Affairs (Form SA2) and IT38.

  • Preparation of Estate Accounts.

  • Preparation of Oaths, Bonds and ancillary probate documents.

  • Drafting of Deeds of Assent and Deeds of Transfer.

  • Lodging of documents in the PRA.

  • Liaising with probate office, financial instititutions, beneficiaries  and other parties.
